Elbow crutches are the most common type of crutch in the UK and can be used singularly or in pairs. They act as an assistive device by helping support the users body weight to become more mobile, however compared to Underarm Crutches they require more upper body strength.
Elbow Crutches are available in two different styles of cuff; Open or Closed/Full.
A full Cuff is an incomplete ring that fits around the user’s upper arm. It prevents the arm slipping forwards out of place and holds the crutch on the arm, so the crutch stays connected to the arm allowing more freedom of the hands.
A popular range of Full Cuff Crutches that Chic Aid currently stocks is sourced from a German company called Ossenberg
The plastics of the crutch are made from a high quality fibreglass reinforced material. Overall, the weight of this crutch is 650g and has a tested user weight limitation of 150kg.
It is available in 11 stunning colours and boasts anatomical soft grip handles for extra comfort. In addition to the comfort aspect of the handles, Ossenberg have also included safety reflectors in the front and back of the handle as standard.
Lastly, the ferrules on this crutch are made from rubber with a metal inlay and measure 19mm.
Definitely worth taking a look at if quality and comfort is what you’re looking for!
This Full Cuff Crutch is all about comfort and quality, so much so it has been given the stamp of approval by the British Healthcare Trades Association.
The shaft is made from high quality aluminium and has two multi positioning adjusters; one for the overall height of the crutch, which has thirteen different settings (ranging between 73cms and 103cms), and one between the handle and the full cuff which has another three settings.
